VOICE BASED EMAIL SYSTEM FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Abstract

Internet is one of the basic luxury for daily living. Every person is using the facts and information on internet. On the other hand, blind people face difficulty in accessing the text resources. The advancement in computer based accessible systems has opened up many avenues for the visually impaired across a wide majority of the globe. Audio feedback based virtual environment like, the screen readers have helped blind people to access internet applications immensely. However, the visually challenged people find it very difficult to utilize this technology because of the fact that using them requires visual perception. Even though many new advancements have been implemented to help them use the computers efficiently no naïve user who is visually challenged can use this technology as efficiently as a normal naïve user can do that is unlike normal users they require some practice for using the available technologies. In this project, the voicemail system architecture that can be used by a blind person to access e-mails easily and efficiently. The contribution made by project has enabled the blind people to send and receive voice-based e-mail message. The proposed system GUI has been evaluated against the GUI of a traditional mail server and found that the proposed architecture performs much better than that of the existing GUIS. In this project, the use of voice to text and text to voice technique access for blind people. Also this system can be used by any normal person also for example the one who is not able to read. The system is completely based on interactive voice response which will make it efficient.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COMPUTERIZED POPULATION ANALYSIS SYSTEM

Abstract

Demography is the statistical and mathematical study of the size, composition, and spatial distribution of human populations and how these features change over time. Data is obtained from a census of the population and from registries records of events like birth, deaths, migrations, marriages, divorces, diseases, and employment. To do this, there needs to be an understanding of how they are calculated and the questions they answer which is included in these four concepts: population change, standardization of population numbers, the demographic bookkeeping equation, and population composition. Population change is analyzed by measuring the change between one population size to another. Global population continues to rise, which makes population change an essential component to demographics. This is calculated by taking one population size minus the population size in an earlier census. The best way of measuring population change is using the intercensal percentage change. The intercensal percentage change is the absolute change in population between the censuses divided by the population size in the earlier census. Next, multiply this by 100 to receive a percentage. When this statistic is achieved, the population growth between two or more nations that differ in size, can be accurately measured and examined. For there to be a significant comparison, numbers must be altered for the size of the population that is under study. For example, the fertility rate is calculated as the ratio of the number of births to women of childbearing are to the total number of women

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A PRODUCT EXPIRY ALERT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Abstract

This project is aimed at developing an alert system which notifies shop owners and managers of products/inventory which are about to expire. Faced with the challenges shop owners face with loses and health hazards brought about by expired products, the researcher aimed at developing a product/Inventory Expiration system that manages product expiration in a computerized manner. The Product expiration management system notifies/alerts the store manager on products expiring soon for prompt attention and decision. The system was built with PHP, MYSQL and Bootstrap Technologies.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICES DELIVERY IN NIGERIA

Background/Introduction

Information technology (IT) is the application of computers and telecommunications equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, often in the context of a business or other enterprise. The term is commonly used as a synonym for computers and computer networks, but it also encompasses other information distribution technologies such as television and telephones. Several industries are associated with information technology, including computer hardware, software, electronics, semiconductors, internet, telecom equipment, engineering, healthcare, e-commerce and computer services (Wikipedia, 2015).

World population now exceeds six billion of which more than 4.7 billion reside in the developing world. As the population is increasing there is a need to find ways of improving efficiency and quality of health care delivery systems in developing countries especially in Nigeria where this research is conducted. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been identified as a vehicle with the potential to improve the quality of health care systems as well as the efficiency and service delivery of the health workers both in the developed and developing countries. Information and communication technologies have changed the face of the world we live in (Jensen, 1998).

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ONLINE BARCODE ATTENDANCE SYSTEM

Abstract

Attendance is very important in every student. a single absent make a big difference in performance in the school. Most students of high school are prone to absence from classes claiming that the class is boring. Others due to laziness fail to attend classes, having preference of going to computer shops or playing games while some students cannot refuse the prospect of a friend asking them out during class period. Some of these actions are not reported to parents or guardians because the possible way of informing them is the traditional way which is by inviting the parents over through the students. With this, the authority would communicate the parents on the attendance level of the student. This process takes a long time and sometimes parents are not able to come because of their engagements, occupation or location. These are the reasons why parents/guardians are not informed about the absenteeism of the students. Online Barcode Attendance System is a software developed for daily student attendance in schools, colleges and institutes. It facilitates to access the attendance information of a particular student in a particular class. The information is sorted by the operators, which will be provided by the lecturer for a particular class. This system will help in evaluating attendance eligibility criteria of a student, and also help in parent involvement to the attendance performance of the student. The Online Barcode Attendance System is developed using HTML, CSC, BOOTSTRAP, JAVA SCRIPT, PHP. It fully meets the objectives of the system which it has been developed.
